Wikis

I think wikis are great! Prior to this class I had no idea what a wiki was, even though I used Wikipedia. Now I have total appreciation. It is important to be aware and understand trustworthy issues but wikis can serve as great tools, especially for educators and learners. I do not think learners should rely on Wikipedia alone to gather information but I do think it is a good resource in conjunction with other sources. I use Wikipedia just about everyday. I have never not found good information on Wikipedia, but I've learned to never say never. Okay, that was a lot of nevers. Anyway, wikis are innovative and Wikipedia has served me well so far.

I agree that wikis are great tools.

My one concern is accountability... in a shared world, should there be a moderator or guide? Not an "editor," which would take away from the shared value, but rather someone to vet the information to validate or confirm the data.

I understand that in an ideal world, we would vet each other's contribution and help one another keep "current," but who is to say this is true or not??

Sorry, Hailee.
I should be posting my comments here, I guess. I left a note on your family blog. Yes, wiki's are...whatever you said. Good job.
