Favorite Teacher

I have several favorite teachers. I have been blessed to have a handful of teachers who have made me feel like they really cared about me as a learner and as a person. This helped me feel comfortable in their classroom. If I have to pick one....I would say it would have to be a college professor I had during my undergraduate program. Her name was Erica. Not only was she attractive (they male students loved her) but she was extremely bright, and even down-to-earth. What I learned from Erica that I will apply in my future teaching involves personal relationship building. Although she was our professor and carried many degrees (which can be intimidating when you are a junior in college) she made a point of getting to know each learner before the semester was over. She wasn't too good to sit down and talk about her favorite movie with you or what books she was reading. Her attention to us as learners made us all feel connected to her which in turn made us more interested in the subject matter. She taught me a lot about how important it is to get down to your learner's level.
